Commercial chili powder formulations vary significantly; authentic versions contain predominantly ground chilies with minimal additives, while others incorporate substantial proportions of cumin and garlic. The spice also seasons meats, poultry, soups, and stews, functioning both as a primary flavor driver and a heat component.
