Soak dried fava beans in cold water for at least 8 hours or overnight until softened, then drain thoroughly.
2
Boil the soaked fava beans in fresh water for 20-30 minutes until completely cooked and tender, then drain and cool slightly.
3
Pulse the cooked fava beans in a food processor until coarsely mashed—the mixture should remain slightly chunky, not completely smooth.

4
Transfer the mashed beans to a large mixing bowl and add the parsley, coriander, dill, green onions, onion, and garlic, mixing well to combine.

5
Season the mixture with salt, pepper, dry coriander powder, and chili powder if using, stirring until evenly distributed.
6
Refrigerate the mixture for 15-20 minutes to firm it up, making it easier to shape.
7
Dampen hands slightly and shape the chilled mixture into oval or ball-shaped patties about 2-3 inches long.
8
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until a small piece of the mixture sizzles immediately upon contact.

9
Carefully place the patties into the hot oil in batches, avoiding crowding the pan.

10
Fry each patty for 3-4 minutes on the first side until golden brown and crispy, then flip carefully.
