Pasta Salad Niçoise

Combine fat-free Italian dressing, chopped fresh basil, minced fresh garlic, and crushed red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Whisk together until well blended and set aside.

Place the cooked and drained rotini pasta in a large mixing bowl.

Drain the canned tuna thoroughly and add it to the pasta bowl, flaking it gently with a fork to break it into bite-sized pieces.

Add the diced fresh tomato, diced California avocado, and sliced red onion to the pasta and tuna mixture.

Pour the prepared dressing over the pasta and vegetable mixture, then toss gently but thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly coated.

Arrange the green-leaf lettuce leaves on a serving platter or individual plates to create a bed for the salad.

Spoon the pasta salad onto the lettuce and top with sliced black olives just before serving.
