Method

Combine chopped fresh basil leaves, chopped flat leaf parsley, and minced garlic in a food processor.

Add light miso paste and toasted breadcrumbs to the food processor.

Pulse the ingredients together until coarsely combined, then begin drizzling water gradually while pulsing until the mixture reaches a spreadable paste consistency.

Stir in grated Parmesan if using, and pulse briefly to incorporate evenly.

Transfer the pesto to a serving bowl and adjust the consistency with additional water if needed.
