French Dressing

French Dressing is a salad dressing commonly used with green salads. It can also be used as a sandwich spread, or many other uses. A commercial version is also called "Catalina Dressing".

Peel and finely mince the garlic and onion, or grate them on a fine grater to ensure they blend smoothly into the dressing without large chunks.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, mayonnaise, granulated sugar, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce, whisking together until the mixture is smooth and uniform.

Add the cider vinegar and white wine vinegar to the bowl, then stir in the minced garlic and onion, mixing well to incorporate all the flavors.

Slowly drizzle in the vegetable oil while whisking constantly to emulsify the dressing, creating a smooth and slightly thickened consistency.

Add a splash of water to adjust the consistency if the dressing is too thick, whisking until you reach your desired pourable texture.

Season the dressing with black pepper to taste, then taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or tanginess by adding a small splash of vinegar as needed.

Transfer the finished dressing to a sealed jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together before serving.
