Method

1
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks or slices, approximately 1-inch thick, to ensure uniform cooking.
5 minutes
2
Place the sweet potato pieces into a large pot and pour in enough boiling water to just cover them. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
2 minutes
3
Bring the water back to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook the sweet potatoes until just tender when pierced with a fork. Drain the potatoes and set aside.
15 minutes
4
In a large saucepan or skillet, combine the applesauce, maple syrup, and cinnamon over medium heat, stirring until the mixture is well blended and begins to gently simmer.
3 minutes
5
Add the drained sweet potatoes to the saucepan with the applesauce glaze, gently stirring to coat each piece evenly.
2 minutes
6
Continue to cook the glazed sweet potatoes over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the potatoes are fully coated and tender throughout.
10 minutes
7
Taste and adjust seasoning by adding more cinnamon, maple syrup, or salt as needed to achieve the desired balance of sweetness and warmth.
2 minutes
8
Transfer the Cider Sweet Potatoes to a serving dish and serve warm as a side dish, optionally garnished with a light dusting of cinnamon.
