Rinse the asparagus spears under cool water and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Trim about 1-2 inches from the woody bottom end of each asparagus spear by snapping or cutting with a knife.

Divide the asparagus into 4 equal bundles of 8 spears each and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Wrap one slice of pancetta around the center of each bundle, securing the asparagus spears together.

Season each bundle with black pepper to taste, distributing it evenly over the asparagus and pancetta.

Roast in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes until the asparagus is tender and the pancetta is crispy and browned.
