Cocktail Rye Hors d'Oeurves

This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Turnham Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1992. I made these for a dinner party I hosted. Mixed reviews.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and arrange the cocktail rye bread slices on a baking sheet in a single layer.

Combine the mayonnaise, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and parmesan cheese in a medium bowl, stirring until the mixture is smooth and well blended.

Fold the sliced green onions into the cheese mixture until evenly distributed throughout.

Spread approximately 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture onto each cocktail rye bread slice, covering the surface generously.

Bake the prepared rye slices for 7-8 minutes until the topping is golden brown and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes before serving warm.
