1
Combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.
2
Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the beaten egg, melted butter, and milk.
3
Stir the mixture until a smooth, thick batter forms, ensuring no lumps remain.
4
Heat vegetable oil in a deep, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to 350Β°F, using a thermometer to monitor temperature.
5
Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, carefully drop golf ball-sized portions of batter into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid crowding.
2 minutes
6
Fry the fritters until golden brown on all sides, turning occasionally with a slotted spoon.
4 minutes
7
Transfer cooked fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
8
Combine honey, rum, cinnamon stick, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
9
Warm the syrup mixture for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the butter melts and ingredients are fully incorporated.
3 minutes
10
Remove the cinnamon stick from the syrup and discard.
11
Arrange warm fritters on a serving platter and drizzle generously with the rum-honey syrup.
12
Serve the fritters immediately while warm, allowing the syrup to coat each piece.
