Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat, stir in the orange liqueur, and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.

Halve the cantaloupe and honeydew melon, scoop out and discard the seeds, and peel the rinds away cleanly. Cut the watermelon into manageable wedges and remove the rind.

Cut the cantaloupe and honeydew flesh into uniform bite-sized cubes or use a melon baller to scoop them into round portions for a more elegant presentation.

Cut or scoop the watermelon flesh into pieces matching the size and shape of the cantaloupe and honeydew pieces, removing any visible seeds.

Gently combine all three melons in a large mixing bowl, taking care not to crush the softer watermelon pieces.

Pour the cooled orange liqueur syrup evenly over the melon mixture and toss gently to coat all the fruit.
