Spiced Peach Dessert

Peel and slice ripe peaches into uniform wedges, removing the pits, and place them into a medium mixing bowl.

Finely grate the orange rind and add it to the bowl with the peaches, tossing gently to distribute the citrus zest evenly.

In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch, cinnamon, and ground nutmeg, whisking together until the dry spice mixture is fully blended.

Sprinkle the spice and cornstarch mixture over the sliced peaches and toss thoroughly to coat every piece evenly.

Transfer the coated peach mixture to a medium saucepan and place it over medium heat, stirring gently as the peaches begin to release their juices.

Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens to a glossy, sauce-like consistency and the peaches are tender but still hold their shape.
