Microwave Applesauce
For all of you lazy Americans (that includes most of us) who would like to make your own applesauce, but without having to do much work, this recipe is for you.

- apples5 unitpeeled, cored, and diced
- 1 1/2 cups
- Grade B Amber maple syrup (Grade A Dark Amber would be okay too)1/4 cup

Peel, core, and roughly chop the apples into uniform pieces approximately 1 inch in size to ensure even cooking.

Place the chopped apples into a large microwave-safe bowl or dish, ensuring there is enough room for the mixture to bubble during cooking.

Add the apple jelly, freshly squeezed orange juice, and the cinnamon stick to the bowl with the apples, stirring gently to combine all ingredients.

Cover the bowl loosely with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap, leaving a small vent to allow steam to escape.

Microwave on high power for 8 to 10 minutes, stopping halfway through to stir the mixture, until the apples are completely tender and easily pierced with a fork.

Carefully remove the cinnamon stick and discard it, then allow the cooked apple mixture to cool for 2 to 3 minutes before processing.

For smooth applesauce, transfer the mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender and process until silky; for a chunkier texture, mash with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
