Gingered Apple Crisp

This is really yummy, if you like apples, also has a lot of cinnamon and ginger in it. Has a walnut topping that has even more of that cinnamon, ginger good taste. Good served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apples into ¼-inch thick slices, discarding the cores.

Combine the sliced apples, ½ cup light brown sugar, ¼ cup cornstarch, ½ tsp ground ginger, and ½ tsp cinnamon in a large bowl and toss gently until the apples are evenly coated.

Transfer the apple mixture to a 9-inch baking dish or similar-sized dish and spread in an even layer.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ¾ cup light brown sugar, ¾ tsp cinnamon, and ¾ tsp ground ginger.

Add the 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter pieces to the flour mixture and cut in with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.

Fold the chopped walnuts into the crumble mixture until evenly distributed.

Sprinkle the walnut crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering the surface completely.

Bake in the preheated 375°F oven for 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling bubbles slightly at the edges.
