Peel the ripe banana and break it into chunks.

If using fresh strawberries, rinse and hull them, removing the green tops; if frozen, use directly from freezer.

Add the banana chunks, strawberries, milk, and ice cubes to a blender.

If desired, add the sugar to the blender for additional sweetness.

Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, approximately 2 minutes.
