Method

1
Preheat the waffle iron to medium-high heat. In a large bowl, whisk together all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and granulated sugar.
2
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in sour cream, milk, chocolate syrup, vegetable oil, and melted butter until well combined.
3
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together with a spatula until just combined; the batter should be lumpy and not overmixed.
4
Lightly oil or butter the waffle iron plates. Pour about 1/2 cup batter into the center of the iron and close the lid.
5
Cook until the waffle is golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 4-5 minutes, then carefully remove it.

6
Repeat with remaining batter to make 4 waffles total, keeping finished waffles warm on a plate.
7
Whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form, using a whisk or electric mixer.
8
Divide the warm waffles among 4 serving plates. Top each waffle with sliced strawberries and a generous dollop of whipped cream.
9
Serve immediately while the waffles are still warm and crispy.
