Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 8x4-inch loaf pans or one 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Beat softened butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.

Combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl and mix until evenly distributed.

Alternate adding the flour mixture and mashed banana to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour, stirring just until combined after each addition.

Fold in the drained maraschino cherries, drained mandarin orange segments, chopped dates or figs, and chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour batter into prepared loaf pans, filling each about two-thirds full and smoothing the tops.

Bake in the preheated 350°F oven for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from oven and cool in pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then turn out onto racks to cool completely.

Prepare the cocoa glaze according to recipe instructions once bread has cooled completely.

Drizzle or spread the cocoa glaze over the cooled loaves and allow to set before serving.
