Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with butter.

Cream together 1½ sticks of butter and 1¼ cup sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Beat in 2 large eggs one at a time, then add 2 tsp vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp nutmeg, and ½ tsp cinnamon.

Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, then fold in 1 cup chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Drop spoonfuls of batter (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. The batter should form rough, rocky mounds.

Bake for 20–25 minutes until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
