Trim the stem ends from the green beans and rinse them thoroughly under cold water. Pat the beans dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Heat the oil and butter together in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the butter is fully melted and the mixture shimmers.

Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion begins to soften and develop light golden edges, about 4 to 5 minutes.

Add the dried green beans to the skillet and stir to coat them evenly with the oil and butter mixture.
