Herbed French Bread

This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pryor estate in Grapevine, Texas in 1996.

Method

1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the loaf of french bread on a cutting board.
2
Slice the french bread lengthwise into two long halves, creating an open-faced base for the herb mixture.
3
Combine the butter, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, basil, and garlic powder in a small bowl, stirring until well mixed and the herbs are evenly distributed throughout the softened butter.
4
Spread the herb butter mixture evenly across the cut surfaces of both french bread halves, making sure to coat the entire surface from end to end.
5
Place the herb-buttered bread halves cut-side up on a baking sheet, leaving them open and exposed.
6
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until the bread is golden brown and the butter is melted and bubbling at the edges.

7
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing crosswise into individual portions for serving.
