Combine the mango chunks and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mango begins to soften and release its juices.

Stir in the sugar gradually, mixing well to dissolve it completely into the mango mixture.

Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer while stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

Add the roasted peanuts or pecans to the saucepan, stirring to coat them evenly with the mango syrup.

Continue simmering until the mixture reaches a thick, syrupy consistency and coats the back of a spoon, approximately 3-5 minutes.
