Place the ground beef in a large skillet or saucepan over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula as it cooks. Cook until the beef is fully browned with no pink remaining, about 7-9 minutes.

Drain any excess fat from the browned beef, leaving just a small amount in the pan for flavor.

Reduce the heat to medium and add the ketchup to the browned beef, stirring well to coat the meat evenly.

Pour in the water to thin the sauce to a pourable, loose consistency, stirring to fully combine with the ketchup and beef.
