Mrs. Truman's Tuna Casserole

This recipe came from the kitchen of Bess Truman and is one of President Truman's favorite recipes. Mrs. Truman had a well-equipped kitchen and often prepared breakfast or lunch for her family.

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of celery soup and milk, stirring until smooth.

Fold the drained tuna into the soup mixture, breaking it into bite-sized pieces as you incorporate it.

Add the cooked macaroni and shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl, stirring gently until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Chop the hard boiled egg into chunks and fold into the casserole mixture.

Transfer the mixture to a buttered 9x13-inch casserole dish, spreading it in an even layer.

Sprinkle the bread crumbs evenly over the top of the casserole.
