Stewed Mangos with Cloves
A simple fruit dessert might be added to the dinner or served later in the evening. You can make this with fresh or canned (yellow cling) peaches or apricots if mangos are not available. Use two 24 oz cans of peaches or apricots for eight servings.

- mangos peeled and cut in large pieces.4 large
- syrup from a can of peaches1 cup

Method

Peel and cut the 4 large mangos into large, bite-sized pieces, removing the pits and discarding them.

Pour the 1 cup of peach syrup into a large saucepan or heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.

Add the 6 whole cloves to the warming syrup and stir gently to distribute them evenly.

Add the cut mango pieces to the syrup and stir carefully to coat them with the liquid.

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Continue simmering until the mangoes are tender but still hold their shape, approximately 8-10 minutes.

Remove from heat and let the stewed mangoes cool slightly in the syrup before serving.
