Method

Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease with butter for easy removal.

Melt ¼ cup margarine or butter in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until completely melted.

Add 25 marshmallows to the melted butter and stir constantly until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract until evenly combined.

Add 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and fold gently with a spatula until all cereal is coated and no dry pieces remain.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press down firmly with a buttered spatula or the back of a spoon to compact evenly.

Allow the squares to cool at room temperature for 5-10 minutes until set and firm to the touch.

Cut into 4 equal squares using a sharp knife, wiping the blade between cuts for clean edges.
