Method

Lightly oil a 9x13-inch baking pan with vegetable oil, coating the bottom and sides evenly to prevent sticking.

Add marshmallows to a large pot and melt over low heat, stirring frequently with a spatula until completely smooth and fluid.

Remove the pot from heat and pour the crisp rice cereal into the melted marshmallows, stirring gently but thoroughly until every piece of cereal is coated.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan, using the oiled spatula or the back of a spoon to press it gently into an even layer.

Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for 5 minutes until firm enough to cut, then slice into squares and serve.
