Pour the milk into a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat until small bubbles form around the edges, approximately 3–4 minutes (do not allow it to boil).

In a small bowl, whisk together the custard powder, vanilla, and ground cinnamon to combine evenly.

Once the milk is heated, slowly add the custard powder mixture while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.

Continue stirring constantly over medium heat until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon, approximately 5–6 minutes.

Pour the vla into serving cups or bowls and allow to cool slightly before serving, or refrigerate for a chilled dessert.
