Portuguese Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • -slices of bread
    cut into pieces
    8 unit
  • - cups of milk
    2 unit
  • and 1/2 cups of Sugar
    1 unit
  • -eggs
    2 unit
  • 1/2 cup
  • -teaspoons of cinnamon

Method

Heat the 2 cups of milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a simmer, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Break the 8 slices of bread into pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Pour the warm milk over the bread pieces and let them soak for 5 minutes until the bread absorbs the liquid and becomes soft.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the 2 eggs, 1½ cups of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until well combined.

Stir the egg mixture into the soaked bread until fully incorporated, then fold in the ½ cup of raisins.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter a baking dish.

Pour the bread pudding mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top evenly.
