Measure out fresh lemon juice by squeezing several lemons, straining out any seeds and pulp through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl.

Combine the sugar and a small amount of warm water in a separate bowl or glass, stirring vigorously until the sugar is fully dissolved to create a simple syrup base.

Pour the strained lemon juice into a tall glass or pitcher, then add the dissolved sugar syrup and stir to combine thoroughly.
