Cream together butter or shortening and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then add milk and mix until combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, then stir in chopped peanuts until evenly distributed.

Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
