Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until combined.

Sift together the flour and salt in a small bowl, then add to the butter-sugar mixture and stir well.

Stir in the quick-cooking oats and milk until the batter is evenly combined.

Drop small spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set but still tender.
