reynolds™ slow cooker liner

OtherYear-round

Slow cooker liners are non-nutritive cooking aids and do not contribute calories, macronutrients, or micronutrients to prepared food.

About

Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners are disposable plastic cooking vessels designed to fit standard slow cooker inserts, eliminating direct contact between food and the cooking vessel. Manufactured from food-grade polyethylene plastic, these liners are engineered to withstand temperatures up to 400°F (204°C) and are BPA-free. The liners conform to the shape of slow cooker bowls (typically 3.5 to 6.5 quarts) and are pre-sealed at the bottom to contain liquids and prevent leakage into the heating element.

These products emerged in the early 2000s as a convenience item for home cooks seeking to reduce cleanup time and facilitate food storage directly in the liner itself. The plastic material is transparent, allowing visual monitoring of cooking progress without lifting the slow cooker lid.

Culinary Uses

Slow cooker liners function as a labor-saving aid rather than a cooking medium. They are inserted into the slow cooker bowl before adding ingredients, allowing the cook to prepare meals with reduced cleanup—the liner can be discarded after cooking, leaving the ceramic or stainless steel insert clean. This approach is particularly useful for batch cooking, meal preparation, and situations where the slow cooker will be used multiple times in succession. The liners are compatible with recipes calling for braising, stewing, and slow-cooking techniques across various cuisines. They permit direct storage of cooked food in the liner, enabling convenient refrigeration without transferring contents to separate containers.
