Vanilla Triangular Dumplings with Walnuts

Ingredients
- / 140 g butter5 oz
- / 60 g ground walnuts2 oz
- .5 oz / 70 g sugar2 unit
- / 170 g flour6 oz
Method

Combine flour and sugar in a mixing bowl, then cut the butter into small cubes and add to the mixture.

Work the butter into the flour and sugar with fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter distributed throughout.

Add a tablespoon of cold water and gently mix until the dough just comes together; add more water one teaspoon at a time if needed.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 2-3 times until smooth, then flatten into a disk and let rest for 5 minutes.

Roll the dough out thin on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness, then cut into 3-inch squares using a knife or pastry wheel.

Combine ground walnuts with 1 tablespoon of sugar in a small bowl to create the filling.

Place about 1/2 teaspoon of the walnut filling in the center of each dough square, then fold two opposite corners together to create a triangle and press the edges to seal.

Heat the remaining butter in a large skillet over medium heat until melted and beginning to foam.

Working in batches if necessary, place the dumplings in the hot butter and cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side until golden brown.

Flip each dumpling carefully and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the second side until golden and crispy.
