Method

Boil potatoes in salted water until tender, approximately 15-20 minutes, then drain and mash until smooth.

Allow mashed potatoes to cool slightly, then add the egg and mix until well combined.

Gradually add flour to the potato and egg mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Add flour in small amounts to avoid making the dough too stiff.

Lightly flour a work surface and knead the dough gently until it comes together, approximately 1-2 minutes.

Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a rope about 1 cm thick, then cut into small hoofprint-shaped pieces (1-2 cm long) using a fork or pressed pattern.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.

Drop kopytka into the boiling water in batches, stirring gently to prevent sticking. Cook for 2-3 minutes after they float to the surface.
