Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl, stirring together until evenly distributed.

Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the egg and milk.

Mix the wet and dry ingredients with a fork until a thick, shaggy dough forms—do not overmix.

Bring a large pot of chicken broth or salted water to a boil over high heat.

Drop small spoonfuls of dough (about the size of a walnut) directly into the boiling liquid, stirring gently to prevent sticking.

Continue dropping spoonfuls of dough until all the mixture is used, leaving enough space for the dumplings to rise.

Simmer the dumplings for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they rise to the surface and cook through.
