Toast Skagen
Toast Skagen is an excellent party appetizer, popular in Scandinavian cuisine. Although it is named after a fishing port in Denmark, it was actually invented by a Swedish restaurateur Tore Wretman.

- 1 unit
- shrimp24 mediumcooked and chilled
- 1 tablespoon
- 2 tablespoons
- fresh dill1-2 tablespoonfinely chopped
- Butter lettuce1 unitcoarsely chopped (I used Napa cabbage this time)

Method
1
Toast the rye bread slices in a toaster or under a broiler until golden and crispy on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
2
Butter each warm toast slice generously while still hot, then arrange on a serving platter.
3
Distribute the coarsely chopped butter lettuce evenly over each buttered toast slice as a base layer.
4
Combine the cooked chilled shrimp, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and finely chopped fresh dill in a bowl and mix gently until the shrimp are evenly coated.
5
Divide the shrimp mixture equally among the toast slices, mounding it slightly in the center of each piece.
6
Top each toast with a generous spoonful of salmon roe caviar for color, briny flavor, and authentic Nordic presentation.
7
Serve immediately while the toast is still warm and crispy, with any remaining lemon wedges on the side if desired.
