Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the egg, cachaça, margarine, and warm salted water.

Mix with a wooden spoon or hands until a smooth, elastic dough forms, working the ingredients together until fully incorporated.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 2-3 minutes until it reaches a soft, cohesive consistency.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each into a ball.

Flatten each ball with a rolling pin or hands into a thin, round disc about ¼ inch thick.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan or skillet to 350°F (175°C)—the oil should reach mid-depth of the pan.

Carefully place one dough round into the hot oil, working gently to prevent splashing.
