Arrowroot Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp
  • cup
  • – 3 tbsp tamari soy sauce
    2 unit
  • – 2 cubes vegetable bouillon or 1 – 2 tsp vegetable broth powder
    1 unit
  • 1 unit
  • sea kelp
    to taste
    1 unit
  • of sweetener (to balance flavours
    optional)
    1 dash

Method

Combine arrowroot powder with cool water in a small bowl, whisking until the powder is fully dissolved and no lumps remain.

Pour the arrowroot mixture into a saucepan and place over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

Crumble the vegetable bouillon cubes (or sprinkle the vegetable broth powder) into the saucepan while stirring, breaking up the cubes completely.

Add tamari soy sauce and stir well to combine all ingredients evenly, then bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.

Cook for 5-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy and translucent.

Season with cayenne pepper to taste, adding just a pinch at a time and stirring to distribute evenly.

Add sea kelp (or sea kelp powder) to taste, stirring to incorporate, then adjust seasoning by adding a dash of sweetener if needed to balance the flavours.

Remove from heat and pour into a serving bowl or use immediately over vegetables, grains, or plant-based proteins.
