- of steel-cut oats (i.e. McCann's)1 cup

Bring water to a boil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat.

Slowly pour the steel-cut oats into the boiling water while stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

Reduce heat to low and add the dried fruit to the pot.

Simmer uncovered, stirring frequently to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
