Ingredients

  • pack (12 oz) of frozen "Banh Lot" (available at Oriental store)
    1 unit
  • of coconut milk
    preferably one made for dessert
    1 can
  • of coconut sugar or "gula jawa" (brownish colored)
    ΒΌ lb
  • 1 unit
  • 1 unit

Method

Pour the can of coconut milk into a small saucepan and heat gently over low heat until warm, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.

Add the coconut sugar to the warm coconut milk and stir continuously until fully dissolved and combined.

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the coconut mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.

Prepare four glasses or bowls by filling each one partway with ice cubes.

Divide the frozen banh lot cendol evenly among the four glasses, distributing the strands over the ice.

Pour cold water into each glass to fill halfway, then top with the chilled sweetened coconut milk to complete.

Stir gently to combine before serving immediately while cold.
