- wine glass of whiskey1 unit
- of a tumbler of boiling water⅓ unit

Gather your materials: a heat-safe glass or mug, a measure of whiskey (approximately 1.5 oz), hot water, sugar or simple syrup, and a whole nutmeg with a grater.

Warm the glass or mug by filling it with hot water, letting it sit for about 30 seconds, then discarding the water.

Add one teaspoon of sugar or simple syrup to the warmed glass.

Pour the measure of whiskey into the glass over the sugar.

Add approximately 4 to 6 ounces of freshly boiled hot water to the glass, stirring gently to dissolve the sugar completely.

Using a fine grater or Microplane, freshly grate a generous pinch of whole nutmeg directly over the surface of the drink.
