Combine flour, white sugar, salt, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl, whisking together until evenly distributed.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, milk, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well blended.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; the batter should be slightly lumpy. Do not overmix.

Fold the mini chocolate chips into the batter using a spatula, distributing them evenly throughout.

Preheat the waffle iron and lightly brush or grease it with the real butter to prevent sticking.

Pour approximately 1/2 cup batter into the center of the preheated waffle iron and close the lid.
