Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter or margarine together with the sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add the egg whites to the butter and sugar mixture and beat until fully incorporated and smooth.

Gradually sift in the flour and fold it into the mixture until a firm, pipeable dough forms, being careful not to overwork it.

Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle, or load it into a cookie press fitted with a decorative disc.

Pipe or press the dough onto the prepared baking sheets in desired shapes such as S-curves, straight logs, or rosettes, spacing them about 3 cm apart.
