My own biscuit recipe. Basic bare bones.

Method

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

Measure 1 cup self-rising flour into a large mixing bowl.

Add ¼ cup water to the flour and stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms, about 1 minute.

Turn dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead gently 5-6 times until it comes together into a cohesive ball, being careful not to overwork it.

Pat dough into a ½-inch thick circle and cut out biscuits using a round biscuit cutter or glass, or cut into 4 wedges with a knife.

Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each biscuit.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until the tops are light golden brown.

Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before serving warm.
