The name derives from the Creole word for "hot," reflecting their intense heat level, which ranges from 100,000 to 350,000 Scoville Heat Units. Despite their powerful spiciness, wiri-wiri peppers possess a fruity, slightly floral undertone that distinguishes them from other Caribbean hot peppers.
