The fruit consists of a thin skin, fleshy interior studded with seeds and juice-filled locules, and a central core. Diced tomatoes represent tomatoes that have been cored and cut into small, uniform cubes, typically ¼ to ½ inch in dimension. This form is achieved either through fresh cutting or industrial processing where whole tomatoes are peeled, diced, and canned or frozen, often with added tomato juice or citric acid for preservation.
