Common varieties in this size range include yellow (golden) onions, white onions, and red (purple) onions, each with distinct flavor profiles. Yellow onions provide a sweet, mellow flavor when cooked and moderate pungency when raw; white onions are milder and more delicate; red onions offer a sharper bite with subtle sweetness and striking visual appeal.
