It is characterized by its dense, round head composed of tightly layered leaves that range in color from pale green to deep purple depending on variety. The texture is notably crinkled or wrinkled, distinguishing it from smoother green and red cabbage varieties. Savoy cabbage has a milder, slightly sweeter flavor compared to its smoother relatives, with tender leaves that are less fibrous and more delicate in structure.
