mango cubes

ProducePeak mango season varies by region: April to August in Mexico and Central America; May to September in India; June to September in the United States (primarily Florida and California). Frozen and canned mango cubes are available year-round.

Mango cubes are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, and dietary fiber, with moderate levels of antioxidants including mangiferin and quercetin. They are naturally low in fat and a good source of quick-release carbohydrates.

About

Mango cubes are uniformly diced portions of mango fruit (Mangifera indica L.), a stone fruit native to South Asia and widely cultivated throughout tropical and subtropical regions. The mango is characterized by a large central pit surrounded by fibrous flesh that ranges from pale yellow to deep golden-orange in color, with a sweet, tropical flavor profile varying by cultivar. Mango cubes are prepared by peeling and removing the pit, then cutting the flesh into uniform geometric pieces, typically ranging from ½-inch to 1-inch cubes. This preparation method is commonly produced fresh at markets and by processors, and is also available frozen or canned for extended shelf-life applications.

Major cultivars used for cubing include Alphonso, Ataulfo, Tommy Atkins, and Kent varieties, each with distinct sweetness levels, fiber content, and flesh texture. The cubing process may be performed manually or mechanically, depending on production scale.

Culinary Uses

Mango cubes are versatile in both sweet and savory applications. In desserts, they are incorporated into fruit salads, smoothie bowls, yogurt parfaits, sorbets, and as garnish for ice cream and tropical desserts. Savory applications include mango salsas paired with grilled fish and poultry, ceviche preparations, and curries in Southeast Asian and Indian cuisines. Mango cubes are also used in grain-based bowls, added to cocktails and beverages, and featured in chutneys and preserves. The uniform size makes them ideal for both aesthetic plating and consistent cooking in hot preparations.
