  1. Sauté onion and garlic in margarine in a large saucepan until tender.
  2. Add salt, basil, chili powder, oregano, thyme, and pepper, stirring well.
  3. Stir in tomatoes and beans.
  4. Simmer, uncovered, 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Serve hot.
