Ingredients
- litres water7 unit
- stewed tomatoes1 canor an equivalent amount of fresh tomatoes
- can tomato paste1 small
- sugar and salt1 unitto taste
- onion1 largethinly sliced
- garlic1 or 2 cloves
- beets5 or 6 mediumpeeled and julienned
- carrots3 mediumpeeled and julienned
- potato1 unitjulienned (optional)
- ½ large white cabbage1 unitshredded
Method

Fill large stock pot with water. Add can stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, onion, garlic, and beets, and bring to a boil for 20 minutes.

Add carrots, cabbage, and optionally the potato.

Return to a boil and cook for 1.5 hours
